This program is designed to provide the student with the basic knowledge and skills to function as an entry level member of a fire organization. This program combines an online didactic immersive learning platform with pre-determined skill assessment dates. This course entry level program will provide a different learning platform than the traditional classroom lecture with the goal to provide a flexible schedule to the learning that can be adapted to the varying schedules of the students. Students, once enrolled will be able to access the PowerPoint presentations and scholarly learning activities at their leisure within a provided timeline. Throughout the course, as defined in the provided syllabus students will be required to meet at the training center to learn, perform, and be evaluated on the associated skills of the program. Students will be evaluated academically with two multiple-choice exams which will be administered in person. One such exam will occur about halfway through the program as a mid-term exam, with 50 multiple choice questions. Success is awarded at 70% or higher, and students are permitted three attempts at the mid-term test. If unsuccessful after the third attempt, students are academically removed from the class without refund. If students who are academically removed from the class wish to continue training they will be required to register for another class and begin again from the beginning and are responsible for any tuition to do so. The second academic exercise will be at the conclusion of the didactic learning in which students must be successful with a 100 question multiple-choice test. Success is granted with 70% or higher. Students will be permitted three attempts at the final exam, if unsuccessful with the third and final attempt students will be academically removed from the class. If students who are academically removed from the class wish to continue training they will be required to register for another class and begin again from the beginning and are responsible for any tuition to do so. Physical skills will be assessed utilizing the PA State Fire Academy entry level fire training skill sheets, a copy of which will be provided to registered students. Skills performance will require 100% success by last date of class. Students unable to perform skills to 100% capabilities given no more than three attempts shall be removed from the class unsuccessfully. Unsuccessful students will not receive credit for the class, nor are they eligible for a refund. Students unable to perform 100% of the skills that are removed from the class, and who which to attempt the skills again are required to register for another class and incur all tuition fees to do so, and complete the entire program again.
